Telescopic Handler Training
Who can and who should take the Telescopic Handler course:
The Telescopic Handler is also known by the name of telehandler, lull, teleporter, reach forklift or zoom boom. This course is designed for anyone who needs or wants to learn how to safety operate the machinery. There is no prerequisite to taking this course.
Overview of the Telescopic Handler course:
In this course there are 2 components: a theoretical and practical portion. Firstly, we will start with the theory, followed by a short test and then the practical. For the practical’s we do require that the participant provide their own telescopic handler. We do go out to the job site to complete the practical. Lastly, upon successful completion of the course you will receive your Telescopic Handler certification. Receiving proper training of the machinery is so important for your safety and the safety of others.
Topics Covered but not limited to include:
- Types of Forklifts
- Anatomy of the interior and exterior
- Stability: balancing point, center of gravity, stability pyramid, raising and lowering the boom, leveling the machine, dynamic conditions, load charts, weight and critical lifts
- Operations: communications, load lifting, work-site safety, parking, forklift travel, pedestrians, loading and unloading
- Hazards: power line contact
